Favor

How funny have you been in front of the cameras lately?

Favor is the stat that measures how The Watcher feels about your performance on the island. The higher the number, the more entertaining you've been, and the more likely she is to give you the time of day when you inevitably wipe out and get dragged off to Failboat.

Favor can be used to purchase shots of adrenaline1) on the Failboat, allowing you to fight in cage matches longer. Alternatively you can trade 100 favor in for a return to the island, saving you from having to wait for the next New Day.

Modifying Favor

Stuff that increases favor

  • Winning a cage match. The most straightforward, if painful, method. Win a cage match on the boat, get somewhere in the ballpark of 10 favor.
  • Equip something stupid. Weird Weapons and Armor make for good television! After your first Drive Kill, you'll start unlocking gear that effects the Watcher's mood. The benefit is immediate, and will continue to increase your favor each New Day.
  • Buying a round. Some Super Fancy Fun Club items will put the Watcher in a good mood, giving not just you but everyone on the island extra favor. They don't even need to be logged in to get the benefits!2)

Stuff that decreases favor

  • Losing a cage match. This will cut your current favor in half.
  • Defeating the Improbability Drive. This will reset your favor to zero.
  • Asking for her help. Favor is a currency. You cash it in, you lose it.3)
  • Unequip that stupid thing you put on. If swinging around a Pork Sword gave you five extra favor, then returning it to Sheila will remove that favor.4)
  • Equip something really stupid. Look, even she has standards. If an item you bought at Sheila's is particularly disgusting, chances are it'll drain your favor each New Day. Keep an eye on your gear's description and plan accordingly!

Stuff that doesn't change favor one bit

  • Asking the Watcher about what it means to be human. She's interested in robotic conundrums, but not that much.
  • Assisting the Watcher in various tasks. You're a contestant, that's your job.
  • Playing pool with the Watcher. That's a weird hypothetical. Why would she want to spend time with you, anyway?

Effects of Favor Past

In previous seasons of the show, the Watcher had a bit of a sense of humor and provided much weirder services.

  • 25 Favor: Camera Poke. Back in the days of PVP, the Watcher would occasionally let you run one of her remote controlled cameras. You could use it to poke a rival contestant while they slept, draining their stamina a bit. “Get 'em up the arse with it!”
  • 500 Favor: Watcher's Blessing. If you were particularly entertaining, the Watcher would tune up your equipment for you. If you asked the Watcher to bless your armor, it would reflect partial damage back at monsters during jungle fights. If you asked her to bless your weapon, it would regenerate part of your life points during jungle fights.
1)
The Failboat equivalent of HP.
2)
If you've been away from the game for a while and don't know why you've got thousands of favor points, this is usually why.
3)
Asking the Watcher to lower your difficulty rank does not count, and does not reduce favor.
4)
Keep in mind favor cannot go below zero. If selling your equipment would cause your favor score to go into the negatives, Sheila will refuse to serve you!
