The Watcher

The boss. The co-ordinator. The one in charge of this whole mess. The Watcher.
From her office on the Failboat, the Watcher oversees everything that happens on the Island. Every fight, every quiet conversation. Every veteran, every new arrival naked in a dumpster. Every win, loss, and draw. Stay where the cameras can see you, and she'll keep you safe - keeping the forces of chance in check and sending retraining personnel to collect you when things get out of hand.1) But just because she's keeping you alive doesn't mean she'll be nice about it.
It's not clear how much of the Watcher's caustic attitude is genuine, and how much of it is a front she puts on for the show's broadcast. Certainly some of her demeanor is an act - she'll freely admit that impractical red turtleneck she wears is a costume. But don't expect many opportunities to talk to her about her personal life. She doesn't know you. She has a lot of people to care about already. And she's always on the clock.
The Watcher has a show to run, and as such, she has little patience for boring people. Contestants who challenge themselves by fighting with weird weapons, perform strange feats, or entertain her in a Failboat cage match may earn a favor from her.
