Rabbits

Release Month: May 2017
Weight: 4kg each
Effect: A one-off source of food. Kill to receive 5 Tasty Meat. Leave two or more alive in your pack during a New Day to, er, get more of them.

In 1859, colonists introduced rabbits to the Australian ecosystem so they'd have something familiar to kill and eat. This was a terrible idea for any number of reasons, such as how the fuzzy bastards had no natural predators and were thus free to fuck wildly and decimate the outback with sheer numbers. Humanity has since learned from that mistake. When rabbits were introduced to Improbable Island hundreds of years later, there was never any fear of what they'd do to the ecosystem. Because Improbable Island is approximately one thousand square map tiles of nothing but rabbit murderers. Including you.

Unlike their adorable mainland equivalents, Improbable Island rabbits can no longer be bought and cannot be found running free in the jungle.1) You'll need to receive your first pair from another player. Go ahead and ask in Banter - there's usually someone with spares!

Rabbits are kept inside your Fancy Shoebox next to all your other cash-dollar-donation items. When a Boy Rabbit and a Girl Rabbit love each other very much and are left alone during a New Day, they'll do what rabbits do best and make a brand new baby rabbit. The more pairs of adult rabbits you have, the more baby rabbits you'll get.

Keep in mind that unlike other Fancy Shoebox items, rabbits have a weight of 4kg each. If your stamina starts draining at an alarming rate - your pack is probably weighed down by bunnies! Clear 'em out. Failure to keep the count at a reasonable level results in hitting critical pack-rabbit mass, causing your backpack to collapse under its own weight and become a bunny black hole.2)

Rabbits don't need feeding and can survive an encounter with the Improbability Drive3), making them a non-perishable source of food. Snap one's neck for 5kg of Tasty Meat.
